Homemade Christmas Gifts

This holiday, I have a plan to give gifts that do not add to the overwhelm of STUFF. While any gift you give is thoughtful and should bring joy to you and the recipient, the goal this year is to give gifts that will not just add to the pile.
I have been through the KonMari method a few years ago and have become wary to adding more stuff. Now, I am striving to give gifts that meet some of the following criteria: consumable (baked, canned, dried goods or body care items I’ve made), useful (new clothes for kids) and experiences (movie tickets, season passes, etc.). This is a list of some easy to make homemade, consumable or reusable, gifts to give everyone on your list this year!

Vinegar: The Ultimate All Purpose Cleaner
There is so much to love about vinegar but today I will focus on using vinegar as a cleaner. This multipurpose liquid can disinfect and clean almost every nook and cranny in your home. It has the added benefit of being nontoxic. Which is great if you have pets or children. Or even if you just don’t want all of the many chemicals surrounding you.

Easy Unpaper Towels (free!)
One of the tenants of a homesteader is to reuse everything. Sheets with holes? No problem! Shirt too small, towel fraying, anything at all, I try to reuse until it simply disintigrates.

Cooking with Little Ones: Top Tips

I have two young sons under 5. Having children can be so much fun, especially teaching them new skills. But it can also be tricky with activities like cooking which have an element of risk. Think stoves, knives, etc. These are some of my favorite ways to involve both children, ages 2 and 4, in cooking our from scratch recipes.
